Dear Internet

I hate to break this to you, but I'm getting sick of this trope.

Sex =/= love.

Let me repeat that.

banging someone is not love.

Yes, people who love one another do, in fact, engage in intercourse, however, as a philosopher may say, you're making a category mistake in equalling love as the same thing as sex.

Yes, a lot of people will make euphemisms like 'making love', or whatever, but despite this, the act does not in fact manufacture love.

So, in closing, if you're writing a story, or just working on a relationship, having sex means literally nothing, and is not, in fact, proof of love or what have you.

well, being on love when you have sex with someone somehow makes it an incredible experience.

That is so true. I love to read fantasy and sci-fi but the thing that gets my goat is when the author follows the couple, any couple, beyond the bedroom door to tell you just how good the sex is when it has nothing to do with the plot. This is information I just don't need to know and is a waste of my time and headspace.

I don't mind explicit scenes, so long as a good reason can be provided for their existence, but most of the time there simply isn't a good reason provided.
