It makes me wish I wasn't an atheist and that I was christian so I could pray to have them smited with fire and lightning and maybe hailstones, with like, a little bit of fire and lightning in them.
The conservatives mean well, and they perceive that there has been a problem arising in the new translations as they are retranslated, not from the original or oldest available texts, but from the most convenient text.
My opinion? stick with the King James Version. The archaic wording is an interesting education, it was assembled by a group of scholars who were basically well-intentioned, and if one studies scripture with the spirit then the reader will receive that understanding which he is ready to obtain.
